7. Cookies

Coin & Empire uses cookies — small text files placed on your device — to remember your preferences and, with your consent, to measure how the site is used.

Types of Cookies We Use

Strictly Necessary
Required for the Site to function. Includes ce-consent-v1, which stores your cookie choice for 12 months so we don't ask again on every visit.

Analytics — Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-J0VR2MMES4) to understand which articles readers engage with. GA4 sets cookies (_ga, _ga_*) only after you opt in. IP addresses are anonymised. You can read Google's privacy practices at policies.google.com/privacy and opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Advertising Cookies
If and when we enable third-party advertising in the future, those cookies will only be set with your explicit consent.

Managing Cookies

On your first visit you will see a cookie consent banner where you can accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or set granular preferences. You can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie Settings” link in the site footer. You can also clear or block cookies through your browser settings.

We follow Google's Consent Mode v2: analytics signals are denied by default until you opt in, which means no GA4 cookies are written before consent.

8. Affiliate Links

Coin & Empire participates in the Amazon Associates Programme and may participate in other affiliate programmes. This means we earn a small commission when you purchase products through links on our Site, at no additional cost to you.

Affiliate links are disclosed within articles where relevant. We only recommend books and products we believe are genuinely useful to our readers.

Your purchase data through affiliate links is handled by the respective retailer (e.g., Amazon). We do not receive or store your personal payment information.

9. Third-Party Links

Our Site contains links to external websites and resources. This Privacy Policy applies only to Coin & Empire. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites and encourage you to review their policies before providing any personal information.

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Newsletter subscribers — retained until you unsubscribe, then deleted within 30 days
  • Contact form submissions — retained for up to 12 months
  • Comment data — retained for the lifetime of the published article
  • Analytics data — retained in anonymised/aggregated form for up to 26 months
  • Legal and financial records — retained for 7 years as required by UK law
